i know this is a stupid question and i kinda already know the answer but what is the pay difference for each type? I turn 21 next year and i want to start driving semis so i can make some decent money for the future. i know tractor trailer pays more no doubt but at the same time the straight truck sleepers i feel like i can enjoy more because the majority of the companys i seen have the extended sleepers and i feel like i can stay out longer considering the nice living space. idk, to me i just wanna make good money for the future. what is your opinion on what i should do?

The majority of straight trucks you are speaking about are almost all owner operators or drivers leasing on with a carrier. They are normally light loads and are needed in a hurry. Many are team drivers. Get your class A along with all endorsements. Go OTR for at least a year and stay with the company you hire on with. Get the required experience and keep your record clean.
    Good Luck

FYI, in this biz, we refer to them as trucks, not semis. A "semi" is a trailer utilizing a fifth wheel attachment. Also, trucks use "diesel fuel" not "gas. Just knowing these two terms will keep people from thinking you're a "newb". Just some friendly advice. Anyway on to your question, Those straight trucks like you showed are team expedite trucks. You get to the shipper pronto and deliver pronto.

Panther is a company that I see a lot of straight trucks with sleepers. They are direct to delivery most of the time. High value loads and hot loads.

Ive seen them in government buildings and military bases like FT Belvoir VA. The military doesnt just let any driver in, and of course, higher pay.

    Think of it this way:

An 18 wheel tractor trailer with a 53' box needs to be profitable to go down the road.

Those straight trucks with sleepers make due with HALF the volume.

Ergo: those straight truck sleepers have higher value loads.
