I work for FCI hauling OTR. Sometimes out for a week, sometimes 2-3. Obviously I'm knocking down some miles. I need some advice from an experienced professional driver on the best type of device I can get to support my back. I already know not to lean forward, sit up straight, lift seat and have close enough so back of legs barely touching. I already know to stretch... blah blah blah. I get all that. Now what device can I purchase to help further the cause of back support with minimal to zer0 pain? Thank you professional drivers in advance, drive safe!

Back pain? You are too young to have back pain, that will come later in your 40's ///Tease.

Anyhow any number of back bracing sold in medical supply shops will do you well. Some are quite large. I used one all my life lumping freight in the grocery.

It still did not prevent me from suffering early onset loss between T1 and T12 in my spine at 50. Cards at the table. Sometimes you get a bad hand sometimes its a good hand. Smile.

In my time the various companies started reeling off useless wasted one hour seminars about lifting as you described. I rather be several pallets deep stacking small wood from big wood instead of wasting time listening to a suit who will never lift a finger in his warehouse.

I am a wise ##*. So I will not advise about massage parlors.

However if you can talk FCI into installing a massage chair in the truck. Those things are the bees knees. Especially on the lower back. Turn it up to full and push your back right into it while driving. It feels so gooood! Expensive though and prone to breakage. Sort of like a ex-wife...

Im getting ready to get such a chair for home, not to mention being able to achieve trendlenburg position if necessary for me. wonders never cease if they make heat massage seats for big trucks. I missed out totally.

Now the women... wal... none of them did bad by me over the years and for that im thankful. I leave it here.

I herniated 3 disks in my lower back at the age of 24 while working at a computer all day. I spoke to surgeons, chiropractors and physiotherapists. I am now 49 and haven't had back trouble in years. The device that made this possible was knowledge of how the spine works and the determination to correct my posture and give my back the respect it demands. There is no magic appliance. Fix your posture.

My truck has a little switch that send heat into the seat. Then at the back there is another switch that starts a roller while another button does something that makes the back of the seat pulse. I thought everyone had those.

A good seat makes a good truck make sure your whole back is supported, if you have a good seat it will have alot of back support adjustments
... Doing sit ups will tighten your core and help support your back also
A truck with a bad seat with no back support will be hard on your back for sure, especially when pulling heavy loads

I have a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia. The seat is decent I think. But only 2 air ups in the lower back. Doesn't seem to make much difference, although I'm sure in part it does. Still feels like there is a void between my lower back and the seat. No matter how I adjust it.

    Forget about driving

A few of us here have seriously jacked up our shoulders on landing gear though.
