Among all the switches on the dash board there is one that I have no idea what it does. The top part of it has a tire that looks like it's running over water and spitting water off the back side of it on the bottom of the button it says ATC. What does this switch do ?
What is the atc button on the dash board?

When it lights up your automatic power divider in engaged. A ABS sensor detected a tire slipping and activated the light.

It's a modern version of a limited slip differential. Under acceleration the ABS sensors detect one wheel spinning more than the other and it corrects the situation by lightly tapping the brakes to that wheel and if severe enough the ECM will cut the throttle back for a millisecond. Use it only in bad weather and wet roads. You should have an owners manual in your glove box. Read what the manufacturer says about it.
For the Billy Bob truckers out there it stands for Air Traffic Control. Cleared for takeoff!chalupa Thanks this. -
Be sure to try all of the switches on your dash and one of them may be the smoke screen so the DOT can't find you.

Peterbilt_Rick and chalupa Thank this. -
the switch is for you to turn it off. i don't know under what circumstances you'd turn it off for though.
i wish my truck at ATC. -
In my KW the switch was a momentary type. That when flipped would go back to its original position but the dash light would blink telling me that the atc was on. If you ouch it up again it would turn the light off. The atc would work I presumed even if I didn't activate the switch. Because when I woul lose traction or the truck procieved I lost it the light would come on for a second. I know that at. Works. It is nice to have.
