What is the ATA (American Trucker's Association)

Most definitely not the American Truckers Asssociation.

ATA is a UNION of carriers that hire people to lobby governments to get what they want that benefits them.

Most drivers today don't want to have anything to do with a Union aka as Association. Sadly, not having any representation will not get you anywhere forward but make giant steps backwards.

 

They call it an Association while drivers used to have a UNION that did the same thing.
They could also call it American Trucking Lobbyists.

 

The man from Leduc is correct on both counts.

 

Some of the larger manufactures and retailers are part of the ATA too.

 

As Associate Members only.

 

It actually stands for "American Trucking Associations" (plural).

Those of you into Acronyms forgot the most powerful transportation lobbying group, "NITL" (National Industrial Transportation League).
