I see alot threads that say no to cheap freight. Is cheap freight 2 mile,1.80 mile I'm not sure, but I have learned to stop leaving money on the board just because of the misconception. I can get 1000 on 300 miles then turn around ,and get 550 on 300 miles go figure ,and then do it all over again. I know the rates have went down depending on your market, but the fuel is down too.

Most guys figure $1.50 per mile,to the truck, for expenses.
If you can make $2 per mile, and make 50 cpm, seems fair.
$1.80 per mile, your making the same as a company driver, with much more responsibility.

    Question,
Need to move 350 miles to get loaded for a $3.00 per mile load, 1200 miles paid... I take a load for the 350 miles that only pays $350. The load is light, quick load and unload, does not interfere with the next load. What is wrong with taking that cheap freight? it reduces my expenses to get to the next load, gets me out of a dead freight area.

if you are not a part of the solution you are part of the problem if you were not already going you would not consider that load would you ? so you just trapped yourself into hauling for below your normal bottom rate or maybe you have no bottom, try to think longer term

That's crazy smh. Sometimes I do connecting loads like that when I got a big DH to my money I load but my standard still remains the same. If it doesn't meet my minimum req I don't haul it. 1.00 per mile you just wasting time

Another thread with no absolute positively correct answer.

I'm going to start one on why brunettes are more attractive than blondes.

  10. 1. How much is your fuel cost?
    2. How much do you pay for fuel?
    3. What does your truck average on fuel mileage?
    4. Is your truck/trailer paid for?
    5. Expenses to be paid each month?

Do the math first find your magic number, everyone's is different. The above list is not detailed, its a generic list to give you an idea.
