Means only first drive axle is powered. Rear drive axle is just along for carrying the weight. No driveshaft between the pumpkins. Saves on weight, probably a little better on fuel maybe a few %, but sacrifices the ability for 3 or 4 way lockers. If running where traction is almost never an issue it should be fine. I would never run it, but I do a lot of winter driving and the 4 way lockers are a must (in my mind).
Some people will argue otherwise. I don't buy it.

thank you very much. That's what I thought. It's a Cascadia 113 and has a shorter wheel base which appeals to me. I don't drive in the snow (much), and 99% of what I do is on pavement. The price is real friendly too....about $15k less than a 125. I think I might give it a try.

If you buy a 6x2, check to see if the 2nd axle differential is convertible, meaning that a driveshaft can be added later incase a owner decides to replace the 3rd trailing axle with a differential and turn the truck into a 6x4.

It'll help with resale value later as 6x4 are more desirable and common.

Mail hauler had quite a few 6x2 some years ago and those trucks were constantly spun out on grades on Hwy 17 along Superior. It was quite pathetic.

Guy asking appears to be from south Georgia
Should be ok if he just hangs out down there all the time.

Even with all that, one time the truck needs a hook and there goes all the fuel savings.. I'm sure there's videos where a truck is stuck on an odd section of pavement if it can only spin the 1 wheel..

Most of these 6×2's also at least have a locker on the front which helps a lot in sticky situations. The weight savings is substantial over the life of the truck, plus less maintenance, parts to break, and wear out. Definitely a no go In the north, I agree.

So it can spin both wheels
Normally they're unlocked and just spins right side
Engage locked and it will spin both
So when you make turns one side needs to turn at a different speed than the other. That's why it's like that.

ok, I see. On the dash it has 3 switches......on my 125 it has 3 as well.....one is sliding 5th wheel, one dumps the air bags, and one it to lock out the axles. I couldn't figure out why this one had 3 as well since the rear axle doesn't have a drive shaft, but I get it now. Thank you
