I have been driving with swift going on 3 months and the truck that I've been driving is due for a "B Service?" What is that and what does it consist of? What do they check for?

Chang soil and filters, this is your chance to have any and everything fixed. Thy look for any and everything that could cause your truck to be put Out of Service by DOT

Change oil, filters, lube chassis, check fluid levels, and perform a PM inspection checking a long list of items which consists of checking over the whole truck without actually tearing anything apart.

Found out yesterday that they have changed to a 40k interval on the B service. They can save their breath trying to sell me a Swift truck.

Depends on the truck. I know the new Cascadias have a larger oil pan and Freightliner says every 50k:biggrin_25511:

The manufactures are going to tell their potential customers what they want to hear, which is long service intervals, which increases sales, replacement, and work for their service shops. Don't fall for it, it's a marketing ploy!

When fleets are A serviced at 5000 miles and B serviced at 10,000 miles they don't break, nothing mechanical ever wears out. They stay together until the cab is falling off, but large fleets don't care for these intervals because they won't keep them that long. Why would they maintain a truck properly for the next guy at such high maintenance costs?

Not to mention, if something breaks they'll might catch it and have t fixed keeping you rolling rather than sitting on the side of the road waiting for onroad.

Since this year the b service takes about twice as long - 4 hours as to 2.
They check a lot more now, and fix more things.
Probably a result of Knight taking over, but it is one of the good changes.

It now takes 4 hours instead of 2 because Knight cut shop personnel to the bone and it takes 2 extra hours to get started.
