The company I'm starting with (ptl) says they have navigo on all there trucks. I'm sure it's a GPS system but is it like a gps to track the truck if needed or an in-dash gps that gives u turn by turn directions? I know this may seem like a dumb question but I need clarification.. Thanks

if i remember right, ffe has navigo with their version of qualcom called people-net. don't rely 100% on it or any gps that you may get. always check your maps and call shipper/rcvr with questions, at the very least ask other drivers if they have been to where you are going.

    You should learn.

What happens when your GPS goes south and you have to rely solely on maps and verbal directions?
Because it will. No electronic device lasts forever.

I guess you could invest in a spare unit to keep for a standby.
Then again, that won't help if a large solar storm hits and downs the satellites.

A GPS is a very good tool, but you should always be able to rely on more conventional/mundane means.

Follow the company directions. If you end up on a weight restricted road, they should pay the fines.

Compare the company directions to the bible (atlas) for logical routes.

    Compare the GPS to those.

Use the GPS to help tell you where the roads are, not what roads to take!

if you're gonna rely on gps only.. better watch those low bridges and restricted streets. but seriously, get a randy mcnally truckers map and learn how to use it. not that hard

    Rollin87 Thanks this.
