What all is needed to run in Kentucky?
I have them listed on my cab card but do not have anything else.
Can I enter and do any additional paper work at the scales?
Thanks

You need a KYU# for their highway use tax. You can get it directly from them for free, or use a permit service to get it faster for a fee if needed. Here's the state's website with contact info-http://transportation.ky.gov/Motor-Carriers/Pages/Commercial-Motor-Vehicle-Credentials.aspx
BigBadBill Thanks this. -
Thanks Josh,
I wasn't sure they still used the KYU deal. Guess so.
Thanks again -
Yessir. You don't have to display the license# anymore, they track it by your DOT#, but you still have to have the actual license.

Wow sooo if your a trucking company in ky you need the KYU# ???

Anyone that operates in KY needs a KYU, whether they're from KY or not.

KY does trip permits, but the permanent permit is easy and free, you just pay for the miles you drive in KY every quarter. NY doesn't do trip permits, that I know of. NM's permit is $5/yr, if I remember right, and again, you just pay for the miles you run every quarter. OR is a pain, you have to get a $2000 bond and file monthly, if you don't go to OR very often, it's easier just to get trip permits. And yes, if you drive through those states without picking up or delivering, you still must have the permits.
Edit-I should add that you CANNOT buy KYU trip permits at their scales, you must get them before entering the state.
