I just have a quick question. Who is the easiest company to get into. I have 4 years experience, from 1996 to 2002. Have not been in a truck since 2002. I am hearing i cant drive until I go through truck driving school all over again for a total of 8 weeks until i drive solo. i am hearing that from every company. any ideas.
what company is the easiest

Blame the insurance companies, not the trucking company.

i agree with bricman, also, a lot has changed, at least as far as some of the law are anyway, and seriously there is nothing wrong with going and getting refreashed for 8 weeks, it will only benifit you in the long run, keep looking through this site, you'll find a lot of 411 on pretty much everything
best of luck you to,
be safe out there, -
If you otherwise have a good work record, call Maverick.

Thank you for the advise. I am not trained at flatbeds. I think Maverick only drives flats, as for training for 8 weeks, If I did that I would not have a home to come to. Can't go from 625 a week doing what I am doing now to 350 a week for training. I miss being on the road but love my home and can't risk losing it. The bank won't understand how I will have a 1/2 pay cut for 2 months, as well as everyone knows the bank won't care.

Ask Notarps but I think the securement class isn't more than a few days. -
Hey Bubba check into Eastern Freightways based out of North Brunswick NJ. I recently trained my brother for a month and he received 100.00 per day for his training. Drivers are home each weekend too as long as they live in the northeast. Its not a perfect outfit but for over 6 years they have treated me well and all years combined I am averaging about 70 grand per year with cheap benefits (used to be free but no longer).

jlkk.... are you on the road with the truck then with sleepers or non sleepers, do they slip seat or assign the trucks. is there a rider program. i sent them my resume just now. now it is the waiting game i guess. but thanks for the info, i as i said just sent them my resume. how long you think i would be with a driver trainer. during training where would i be staying, i am in south central pa.
-
We run mostly regional trucks with small sleeper cabs. There are some day cabs for local drivers as well. I do not know how long they would want you with a trainer or wether they would train you locally to let you be home daily or put you in a hotel each night. Our trucks are primarily solo trucks so they usually will authorize a regional trainer to get a hotel each night. The company prefers the trainee to stay in the truck to get used to it but it is the trainers discretion. I always got a double when I trained someone and got reimbursed for the room charges later.
This outfit does use older equipment but they have new trucks already bought and sitting at terminals and are slowly being rotated into the fleet. If you get a shot at coming here hang on tight they are planning on growing and things are improving with the miles and the trucks. Best of luck! -
thanks for the advise. i sent it an app. i can tell them you directed me there for any referal you get. just say the guy from pa who has been in a truck for a few years sent one in from your referal. i would rather drive and hardly be home, and stay in the truck at night. if i had my choice about it that is. no home life anymore, daughter went overseas for the military , the ther daughter is graduated from high school and is ok on her own. ( they were with the kids i got off the road for and my son, well, he is young , but lives with his mom and he thinks driving is the collest thing to do, he is 13, and loves trucks
