Thank you Guntoter my truck stays away from Cali lol. I'm just looking to have it run a little smoother with more power. Maybe the heavy haul software?

First and foremost, I don't advocate removing anything from a 2004-2007 Acert engine. I do advice that an ECM tune will make them get good fuel mileage and power. Second, I doubt any ARB dumb dumb could ever see what was done in the ECM of a tuned Acert CAT when the techs at a very large CAT dealer can't see it for a warranty repair with a download of the ECM sent to CAT for the warranty coverage and payment to the CAT dealer

It has been a few years since I talked with a CA DOT Inspector, but the last time I talked with him, the CARB inspectors in CA do NOT have police powers and as such, you are not obligated to stop for them at any scale house when they indicate they want to inspect your opacity levels at the stack before exiting the scale house. The CA DOT Inspector told me if he inspected me and released me that as I tried to leave the scale house and a CARB inspector wanted to stop me that I could drive by them and there wasn't a thing they could do about it. This is why they are called Inspectors and not Officers. Even the DOT Inspestor doesn't have police powers and must get the CHP Officer to sign the tickets they issue at the scale house

Mr.Haney I have 07 columbia with c15 acert nsx 435hp my fuel mpg is 6.4 when 78k lbs but it has no power at all even when pulling a empty trailer it sucks climbing hills. Will you please pm your contact info so I can have you do your magic turn this kitty into a lion. Also another im stuck here in jersey cause the truck is broke have to wait till wed till someone can look at it. I went to start it up it took a long time to start when it did start it idle real rough and black smoke like a freight train. And it had a engine knock. I changed the air filter, no change, it was low on oil about 3/4 of a gallon oil pressure was like 55 on a cold start. When I went to drain the davo filter, fuel just came out super fast usually it comes out slow. I'm thinking its injector or some kind of fuel problem. What do you think it is? If it is a injector should I replace it with cat injector or aftermarket?

I had a 07 w9 with an mxs with a 625 stock tune done @ Antrim, no matter how light a load it was getting 4-4.5 mpg!! excessive smoke ,ran rough!! I had the iva's backed off some (bad idea)!! I got the Pdi stage 1 tune & went to 5.8-6!! needless to say truck is gone(thank GOD!!!!) acerts have potential but you gotta be willing to spend the $$$ to make them usable!! after that experience I have NO interest in owning another acert!! I kick myself for selling my single turbo!!:biggrin_25510:

The acerts do have a few little issues that the earlier single turbos didn't have, but usually it's an easy fix like a poorly made sensor or plug, faulty wiring ect,
But tickel them in the right places and they perform pretty well without changing to many expensive hard parts like you had to with the single turbo ones.
I've seen them run alot of miles without any major work being done to them. Once cat ironed out the Iva studs and a few other things that were coverd under service letters, and warranty it's usually just a Iva oil press sensor or Iva actuator every now and then,
one thing that gets me is you can't buy the o rings that are on the cat brake solenoid's separately I've had to change the odd one of them as the engine brake was weak as the oil bypasses and looses pressure to operate the slave rod for it.
I think the guys in the northern states and Canada would have more issues with them in winter due to colder ambient air temps causing Iva oil press issues.

Overall my opinion is they are still a good engine compared to what was available in that error of emission standards that they all had to meet.

infact they are still fitting nxs serial prefix in the brand new cat trucks in Australia and New Zealand

HELP I Have A 07 C15 NXS That Is Set Up Way Wrong For What I Do No Boost If PTO Is Engaged 1400-1500 RPM In The Low Side 1800 In The High Side Except In The Last 2 Bad Bad Set Up For Heavy Haul Taking It To The Cat House Tomorrow But Unsure Of The Tune I Should Attempt To Get. Is The 550 2100 Heavy Haul A Factory Tune? Should I Go With A 51 Or 32 Personalty Code

Can you reword the question? I would not waste my money on any factory tune. If low boost is your problem no tune will fix it if it's a leak.
