Hello to all out there, i got a wierd story to tell everyone. So my orientation with CRST is this monday, for the last week ive been stressing saying my goodbye's and packing to get ready to go over the road. Well i work up this morning and decided lemme take a look at craigslist and see whats out there job wise locally, i saw a job for a Dump Truck Driver and decided hey why not go apply i got nothing better to do and i might as well take a shot in the dark at it hoping maybe ill get a call because i have experience driving Dump Trucks. At one point this moring i said to myself......man it's been almost 3 years since i have drove Dumps he'll probably take one look at my resume and say sorry bud but it's been a while and we need someone with recent experience, but something told me just try and you might get it. So i go in and thiers another guy in there already appllying, the boss comes in sits down and says you guys ready for a double interview? sure we both said. So he starts drilling us with questions senerios, shows us the equipment and even say you ready for a road test? im thinking what are the odds? so we both road test operate some of the construction equipment like Bobcats & Tractors then go back inside the other guy finishes and he stays back with me to get my finished app, then he turns to me and gos, you know ive gone over about 20 apps and got about another 20 to go over but ima tell you now your one of the top 2 just by what you've shown me, im thinking ok ive heard this before but i stayed positive about it all. I thanked him for his time then left, well 3 hours later he called me and said you want a job? at that point im thinking you got to be kidding me? but in a good way, so to make a long story short i start tomorrow at 8am getting 17 bucks an hour and getting to come home to the family every night!!! I gotta thank god man it's been so long since i drove i questioned if i would ever get to drive locally again, whish me luck guys im nervous but thankful:biggrin_255:

thats awesome!! glad to hear about your good luck! driving locally is awesome, if the boss is a good guy to work for. i love that i walk into my plant and the owner of the company is in his office almost everyday and we BS for a few minutes, he usually asks me hows it going out on the road, asks if anyone's givin me a hard time. if i have a problem with a receiver or customer ( i run a milk route grocery stores, gas stations etc) he'll personally handle it. again congrats!!

Geez.... I guess there ARE good local jobs after all...that's great news. You have to be willing to do a little research and hunt 'em down but very few guys have to start driving with one of these crappy outfits... Knock 'em dead...

Good jobs? Oh yeah, man.. this raise will put me just shy of $26/hr. Steady work, 40 hrs a week, no layoffs. But then, I'm working for a government contractor.

The jobs are there, you just got to look long and hard for them. And remember: Until you ask, the answer is always no...

I need to thank you for this post. I have 4 years of driving experience with my class b. My last job wasnt paying enough and blowing smoke up my arse. I decided to move to PA where my dad lives and try otr. After reading your post I figured what the heck, lets see whats on craigslist. Well I see an ad for waste management hiring roll off drivers. I fill out the online app and take the online questionaire. I got a call today, two days after I did the online app, they gave me an over the phone interview and now I have a second phone interview with a regional H.R. rep. I wouldnt mind going otr, but if I can get paid by the hour, be home every night, and have good benefits, I will take the local job. It also pays more that $2 an hour more than my last driving job.Thank you for giving me the idea to check craigslist.
