what are some great truck stops in midwest

nathano, the quality of a truck stop varies from driver-to-driver..
While I might think X is a good TS, another driver will think W is better, etc. because we all have our own PERSONAL criteria as to what, exactly, qualifies as "good", or "great"...(as I was recently reminded of in another thread...)

If you want to find truck stops that have barber shops and movie theatres in them, buy a truck stop book, go to the ones you want, and keep your own notebook on whether you liked that one, or not...

There is a new fuel stop on US 151 in Columbus WI that is real nice. Not really what your lookin for but I liked it. They seemed to have anything you wanted to wet your whistle.

 

The only one in Iowa is exit 142 on I-80 at Altoona, just east of Des Moines. It's pretty good now that they resurfaced the parking lot. Another good Bosselmans is at Grand Island, NE, exit 312. It is their flagship truckstop, as they are based there. There is another Bosselman's at exit 302 on I-80 in Big Springs, NE that is pretty nice. The one at the intersection of I-135/US81 and I-70 in Salina, KS is also good. Sapp Bros in Omaha is pretty good. Has a barbershop and a movie theater but not sure they still show movies in it.

 

Big Springs is actually I-80 Exit 107 and there is Wood River at exit 300...

 

Big Chief truckstop in Minnesota. Or any truckstop with buffalo on the menu.

 

i've had decent results with bossemans and sapp brothers----clean restrooms/showers. Decent food and reasonable prices.

Also, if ohio is considered midwest, then i find that the flying J's in this state are ok too.
