I have no APU and I am death scared to idle my truck with this def system on it. I would love to buy a brand new APU but todays rates makes those prices seem like a deep dig, u know blah blah blah lol. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Get a used one. Thermo King has them advertised for $5000. Lots more on Truck Paper. All the brands from $3500-$5500. Google Refurbished APU. There are companies that specialize in this.

I think there is a place out of the Springfield/Joplin Missouri area that specializes in used APU installs. Sorry I don't recall the name.
Alternatively, buy a predator generator from harbor freight with that warranty they offer and hook something up yourself.

Green apu. Had a thermocant and it literally blew up at 2600 hours. As in hole in block blew up and thermocrap always wanted 2 arms a leg and both testicles to work on it then didnt do a #### thing to fix it.

My green has more hours on it then the thermocrap and no a single issue so far save 1 recall item they literally had fixed in the time it took me to buy an oil change kit. So far its worked as high as 95 degrees where i woke up with the cab at 55 inside (something my thermocrap could not do btw it couldnt keep 90 degrees under 75 inside and 110 was 80+ which thermokunt said was normal) and as low as -40 with wind chill down to -60 where it kept stuff at a comfy 65 inside. Again something my thermocrap could not do. It wouldnt even keep the inside at 40 degrees.

$13,000 but they will do payments for you and they are quite reasonable. Comes with a 3000 HOUR <not mile derp> warranty and everything save the controler is off the shelf parts you can get at ANY farm and home or auto zone. Uses a bit more fuel then a thermocrap but better in every other way so far.

And yes im still pissed at thermocrap lol.

I really hate thermoking too. They charge way too much for parts and if you ever have to take it in for service it's an arm and a leg. They sufficiently made me angry enough to learn to work on the unit myself so there is that I suppose. Also, if you need parts for any thermoking check out thermobyproducts.com they have much cheaper parts and even sell the maintenance kits with all filters you'll need. Screw going to any of their service centers.

I hate APUs. They don’t provide enough cooling in the southwest and would constantly overheat. If you don’t go to those areas you are probably ok. I would idle or do the generator AC thing.

An RV center can install one like is used on large RV's. I've seen a few trucks with those and they look good.
