I saw this mentioned in another thread and have heard it many, many times. I have my cdl's or he got his cdl's etc.
Is this just an expression or are there a number of licenses required in the US to drive a truck?

Actually a good question. Probably from the fact that a CDL is not good without a medical card and and some of the other paperwork you need to carry so it ends up being a stack of stuff like road test et..
