You would need a driver that has nothing that will get him refused entry at the border first off. Certain crimes and such in that person's history will refuse entry. Then there is customs where they clear the freight via paperwork usually and or inspection if they decide to do so. Most of the time we go in loaded and come out empty.

Your driver will need to know how to convert metric to american 13.6 is not going to be 13.6 up there it is more like 4.3 meters or roughly. and you will need to know kilometers per hour against your US Mph. And other things. Truckstops generally usually has the ability to take american dollars based on exchange rate. But not everyone has this ability.

If you have a dui or anything that is considered a felony in Canada, you will not be allowed to get into Canada - even if your record was "expunged". The way around it is having to go through their rehabilitation process which means buying a change in their records.

50 yr old owner operator failed the question over a minor ruckus as a teenager...something he didn't remember until the customs man read it from the screen...it was close to 30 years old..

biggest trip up is DIU as it is an 'indictable offense' or their version of a felony

 

Am I wrong or can you buy a trip permit into Canada if you don’t have the authority ?
