Just put a new drivers side windshield in my 1998 4964FX daycab and figured I might as well replace the wiper arms while I was at it. The original style arms which are splined and retained with a nut have been discontinued. They list replacement Bosch arms, but you have to install new pivots also, because of the way the new arms attach. I removed the front cowl, hoping for access from that point, but no luck there. I opened up all the instrument panel sections, but everything is blocked off behind these. I removed the right hand kick panel on the floor, hoping to access the passenger side pivot from there, but this too is blocked off by the heater motor and plenum assembly. Has anybody replaced a wiper motor, linkage assembly, or wiper pivots on one of these? I don't have access to any WS service info that would lead me in the right direction. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My wiper pivot seized up and needed replacing. I wasn't going to attempt it myself so I took it to the shop lol. They did get at the pivots from inside the insturment panel. The shop charged a couple hours for the job.
The new arms are much nicer as the two arms are even on both sides instead of the passenger side being lower.

Thank you for the reply! Looking at it more this morning, I think they must pull the dash assembly back enough to access the pivots. I'll go and see my dealer tomorrow and check it out. I have a job for Tuesday, so I don't want to take too much apart now. Thanks again!

You need to pull the electrical junction on the outside of the firewall above the engine in the center. Then you can get access to the passenger side pivot. No matter what there a huge pain in the ### to do and normally we just end up cutting the old ones off. Driver side you should be able to get access from behind and above your pedals

I own a Marmon which also used these Bosch splined arms. Your right, i spent several hours calling around and nobody has a new set anywhere. I sent one to a custom manufacturer and they made me a set of brand new arms. I ordered several pairs. If anyone is interested, please let me know. $65 each and they are very heavy duty with integrated hose and nozzles. Blades are not included.

Off topic but what kind of suspension (rear) do Marmon's have?
-
my 97 has a Hendrickson air ride under it .

I hear they are the Rolls Royce of trucks because they are hand made.

I run Hendrickson suspension also, I know quite a few of them also run Neway.

Great info so far - I've never seen such a convoluted wiper system before in my life. Used to the double cowling and then free access. So I still have one question - I already pulled the motor, tested it independently (good) found the pivots bound up and I get how to access the front of them, got the arms off, the 1 1/16" nut off the front of the shaft so they move a little bit, and was kind of hoping at this point I might be able to pull the whole wiper trans but that isn't happening so must still be something buried up on the inside of the firewall holding it on, but what? Or how are the pivots attached to the trans if it's easier to remove them independently.
