I would be more interested in fuel economy than comfort 'engine type transmission tractor weight what type of trailers do you intend to haul

Ride, equal.
Build quality, equal.
Interior room, hands down the WS with the 82" Stratosphere sleeper. No comparison on that score.
I have owned both, and although I did look at W9's again, the Star has it beat hands down in interior room.
Everything else is even pretty much,

After I do my 1 yr with a starter company, want to flat bed with Landstar , Roadrunner or,.a flatbed company...I have 3 yrs left til I retire . Plan on paying Cash for a truck or a large down payment for a uses One,with low miles. Comfort is on the top of the list, if I'm able to get 6.0 miles a gallon I can live with that... My pension will cover my mortgage .

I can get over that with the star and the 515 detroit pulling od loads. Keep yer foot out of it, and either one will work. Dont think a big Cat will do it as easily as a Detroit though.

I have a 4900(515), son has W900(Cat550), both 13sp, we both agree the Star has a more comfortable ride with better living space. The W900 will pull away from the 4900 on the steep grades but not by much but the 4900 gets better economy.

both can be gliders.

Have you been in the industry at all, yet? I mean, it seems to me like you're putting the cart before the horse here.
Ghostzapper951 Thanks this. -
Newb question.. What is a glider? Seen this term used several times in relation to several different makes of truck, but have now idea what it means?
Much appreciate a response. -
The basic glider concept was, if you crashed your truck you could buy a glider and get rolling again. So it was a new "shell" that only needed (1) Engine,(2) Trans, (3) Rears to make a complete truck. Now there is a whole diverse market for the "glider" all the way up to a complete turn key, ready to roll truck from a dealer.
