I went to West Georgia Technical School in Carrollton, Georgia to get my CDL. They offer a day course that runs about 8 weeks (I think) and they also offer a night course (which I took), and that runs Monday through Thursday at night from 5-10 for 11 weeks. We usually finished up by 9:30. The course costs about $1700, but if you are a Georgia resident and apply for Hope Scholarship, the cost comes down to $1069. I had well informed, funny instructors who made it fun and I looked forward to going to school at night. We spent a great deal of time on the road, but would alternate every other night on their driving range. There were never more than 3 people per instructor, so everyone had good driving time. Most nights it was just me, the instructor and one other guy. We would drive for 90 minutes, stop and eat dinner somewhere and then swap out. We watched some really funny videos in class as we went through the CDL manual that were at least 20 years old, some with a guy named Lew Grill that has an incredible mustache. Anyhow, if you live in East Alabama or West Georgia, I think this is a great program and I would certainly go through it again if I had to. They offer the CDL at their Newnan and Lagrange campuses as well. If you get Mr. Benefield, you are in for a treat.![]()
