I think I will be taking that route. All other companies had a time limit on the question 3-5 years in the past.

I would hope it would be a industry standard! There is no room in this industry for drugs!!! Go ahead, bash all you want, I have never used drugs, and believe anyone that does, shouldn't be behind the wheel of an 80,000 lbs vehicle

I completely 1000% agree with this statement, but MOST people have a past when they were young, dumb, and naive. If you were fortunate enough to make it through your youth without any youthful transgressions, then I applaud you. However for the rest of us, the right to change our lives for the better should not be reserved for anyone with last name Bush or Steinbrenner or etc. Average Joe's also have families to support and if trucking is what we choose and we have learned from our past to remain drug or alcohol free; then we to should also be awarded with that right.

How do companies even find out these things? What about HIPPA laws? Do all drug testing companies have a database that they report to?

They didn't "miss it" in roadmasters ,there is federal money involved there and they didn't want to lose it.

That long ago I probably wouldn't even tell them I was ever in the military. The navy itself would have a hard time digging up a 20 year old failed drug test.

I told Roadmaster about it cause I did not want to waste my time if I was unable to be hired, but they told me later that the reason for your discharge can't be looked up so you can make up any reason you want. Bottom line is that honesty is not always the best policy.

    Cranky Yankee,

When you were driving for TransAm, did you come across many COMPANY drivers with a lot of time and seniority under their belts driving SOLO OTR for TransAm?
