Here in South Carolina. We have a road with three bridges on it. There are signs posted at each end.
Weight Limit 5 tons per axle
7 Tons Gross
What is the maximum weight allowed on this road? I have included picture of sign.

7 tons, (14,000 pounds)
windsmith, Highway101 and Smellfunny Thank this. -
I understand the limit to be 7 Tons or 14,000 # maximum gross weight. Which makes it closed to just about every commercial truck.
Smellfunny Thanks this. -
I would think the max weight is 7 tons?
truckthatpassesyouby and Smellfunny Thank this. -
It means if you go and get stopped you might as well throw your checkbook out because it's going to be cleaned out.
Smellfunny, SLANT6 and truckon Thank this. -

Does SC charge by the pound like Pennsylvania? I could picture many zeroes in that fine if it was in PA.
Blackshack46 and SLANT6 Thank this. -
I see trucks going up this road all the time. Now that we are having issues with all the floods I think this is very dangerous. The way I read it was that the max weight period would be 14,000 lbs. Total. I see trucks at 80,000 and some farm trucks that are probably pushing 95,000 on it.

The picture is pretty fuzzy, but does it say the bridge is 15 miles away from the sign ? It might mean a different bridge than the one you see them on. Just a thought.
truckon Thanks this. -
What does the bottom line say? Looks like in 15 miles so yeah you can go down the road until u hit the bridge
jammer910Z Thanks this.
