    Beachnut,

Did you ever pull a Xtra Lease trailer that had abnormal tire ware on the inner and outer edges?

Please post the specific problems with the Meritor suspension...I see them from time to time, I would appreciate a "warning" to know something about specifically what to look for...

    RRHAWLEY Thanks this.

we pull xtra lease trailers all the time, tires are always bad, uneven wear, and 90% of the time the trailers would be better off in the junk yard, i pulled one the other day and when i was in the middle of the road the trailer would be on the rumble strips....

I'd like to know what compay you drive for. From 2006 - 2009 we leased 2004 model trailers. All 11 had Meritor suspensions. These suspensions have secret bushing recalls given only to repair vendors. Xtra Lease will not volunteer the information but instead tell the lessor that it's their responcibility to fix them. The average cost to do this is over $2,500.00 per trailer. Can you provide the name of your company, phone number and any contact information. Please e-mail directly # ReidHawley@charterinternet.com. Xtra Lease is monitoring this Blog, I don't want them to see what information you provide. Best Regards!

From the late 90's Meritor has had serious issues with their suspensions, specifically with the bushings. This will cause premature tire ware. If you buy your tires like I do this is a big financial hit. It's bad enough the economy has deterioated the freight, fuel prices have taken all the profit from the line haul amount now add to that premature tire ware. When you normally expect to get over 200,00 miles on a set of trailer tires and you have to change them before the 50,000 mile mark.......you have a serious problem. Then add the extra fuel costs to drag a trailer that's not alligned properly and the list goes on.
