Looking to remove IVA on NXS engine and change back to 6NZ style top end. I have 3 NXS CAT engines and 1 BXS CAT engine and it seems I'm always changing solenoids or wiring harness and its getting old. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Changing the top end to a 6NZ or any thing other than a ACERT and no CAT shop will touch it. I asked the shop I use and was told the same thing, they wont even run an overhead on one thats been changed.

He does bring up an interesting question though. Could you eliminate the IVA's while still keeping the twins? Or would a turbo and manifold swap be needed to make it work properly? In my case a Cat shop not wanting to work on it wouldn't be an issue. I've got two different people who would be happy to have my business.

I'm not worried about the local CAT shop. I'm pretty sure as long as you had a parts list of what was done to the engine so they new what was what they would be good with it. I talked with a guy today that changed his back to a single turbo and apparently the shop that did it just backed the IVAS off and changed the ECM program so they were none functional and he said it works great. I would like to keep the twins just get rid of the rest.

If your going to that on an nxs its going to get very expensive. I don't know if you can keep the twins but you will need to buy a new engine wiring harness, head, and who knows what else. In over a million miles I have only had a problem with one iva solenoid.

Are you sure the head would be different?
