I am ready to go back OTR and want to bring my wife as a passenger this time. Good idea or not? I would like to hear from those of you who do it now. Thanks.

Hubby & I lived on the truck for 5 years. In my opinion it was a wonderful, bonding experience. I helped with the paperwork, fueling, adjusting tandems, etc. A lot of little things that saved him time and energy.

My wife spent the summer with me. From early June till mid Sept.

Our idea was to see if it was something she might want to do and we would team drive.

She loved being with me. But the 'Trucker Lifestyle' was not for her. We've always travelled well together.

If its an option, then absolutely. At the very least she will have a better understanding what you do and go through while out on the road. Changed my wife's perspective. Said she had a new found respect for what I do.

My wife and dog run with me all the time. We have our moments but for the most it's all good. Keeps me on the road and making money instead of wanting to go home but 3 weeks or so is pretty much her limit and we need a couple days. Even the dog does well but starts to go stir crazy after about 3 weeks. I'm ready too about that time.
She does a lot of little things that make it easier on me.

Mine loves to go with me.....and it's nice to have her on the road with me from time to time. My previous company she could ride all year and usually went out one week a month. My current company she can only ride march-October. She's kinda hating that but already planning her next trip first week of March lol

just keep in mind there's trip planning and then there's wife planning lol I always have to plan time for extra bathroom stops enroute when she's with me. I have to say she hangs in there pretty well and runs my schedule with me whether I'm up and running at midnight all night or daybreak and all day. She's up when I'm up and as long as she gets her coffee all is right with the world lol

She brings plenty of things to keep her occupied but keep in mind you need plenty of extra storage space for all the stuff she'll bring with her.

Team driving has it's good & it's bad aspects. Hubby & I did team driving the last 2 1/2 yrs of our 5. It was stressful, exhausting work & left us very little time to spend together. We were expected to keep the truck rolling about 22 hrs out of every 24, stopping only for fueling & the 30 min inspections when we swapped drivers. And we both found it very difficult to sleep while the truck was moving because of the 'bumps' in the road & the noise of the traffic. We found that we preferred less money & more togetherness.
