Walmart advertises a yearly salary of $86k. That sounds like a lot - way more what others are paying.
Is $86k realistic? How is it broken down per mile + live unload + per diem, etc...?

Forget that. What's scary is walmart is advertising for drivers with a billboard at every entrance around the waddling out of breath obese people intent on getting the monthly pain medicine.

Keep in mind this is the same walmart that pretty much shut down hiring computers years ago. Even their sick call system is grotesque. You burn half a day proving you are indeed sick.

Trucking will pay you something. How you spend it or don't spend it is really important after your first years tax returns. It will be then you know where you stand at the gross income side and what's left in your checking after you hand over 250 dollars to HR block for filing federal and state.

Walmart can offer a salary of 170K flat but I would not hire on to them for trucking. There are easier less complicated stressful ways to make a dollar.

    180k miles @ .38 cpm= $68400
Cleaning smelly slipseat truck 3x/week $11,600
    Dodge falling prices 52x/year =$5000
    Receive belt buckle $1000(suggested retail)

That’s the $86,000 average. You can increase that significantly by sitting at the rookie table at the picnic, talk on the cell phone 9 minutes or less per hour, and remain bedbug free for 6 months.

If things are so great why do they contract with Swift, Sneider, you name the company to bring in most of the goods to the final mile, ie, super wm's..

read the whole add in any of those advertisement, It sometimes uses the phrase up to a certain amount. That is what one can make theoretically if everything worked out just right. But then does it say what kind of hours that it will take that kind of money?

All of their driver openings say "Average $86,000 or the Equivalent of $0.87 per Mile in Year 1". I am trying to figure out what that means. How much will I get for activities and bonuses to reach $86k?

    I see it's $0.38/mile weekday and $0.44/mile weekend. With 100k miles a year it's around $40k.
Where does the rest come from? How much do they actually give for safety incentive and other activities?

I don't think it's realistic for the typical new guy that comes in but call them and have them spell it out for you how they can make this claim.

I think they pay for dropping and hooking and seems like I've heard they pay for "layovers", whatever that is.
