First time Going into Lewiston, pulling a store load to get out, not impressed. No showers, only for Walmart drivers. Talked with a dedicated Prime driver, appears as though the dedicated drivers are treated as second class here at Walmart..... I quess I am lucky to even be able to park for the night.......

I can agree with that , but most other wal marts provide facilities for their dedicated fleet , and even if wal mart doesn't want to , then prime should be stepping up and asking for facilities.

I think a lot of dedicated carriers think that when contracted by Walmart, these facilities become mini (insert carrier - Prime, Swift, US Express, Martin) terminals and whatever goes on at their other facilities should go on at dedicated facilities. These outside carriers should remember that they are on Walmart property and private fleet drivers are the priority.

I don't expect wal mart to provide facilities . Would be nice if they did. But really it's on Prime to take care of their drivers. Especially when they require the company drivers to fuel at the wal mart dc so they aren't even getting free showers from the small truckstop down the road
redoctober83 and LindaPV Thank this. -
Walmart builds all of their facilities to be run by Walmart employees - they are all, within a certain range - built the same. Walmart then decides how much of a facilities freight will be handled by them - all, all of the dry, or a certain percentage of it. They then bring in an outside carrier to handle the rest. For instance, the new facility in Mebane NC, is being handled exclusively by private fleet drivers - they recently fired the outside carrier at the Oklahoma grocery DC and brought in private fleet drivers to run it all. The DC in Monroe Ga is running a higher percentage of frozen/dairy loads that have been taken back from Swift, the dedicated carrier there. It's an ever changing situation that adjusts by Walmart based on their needs.
