My wife & I are looking at going OTR full time together with no home base, want to make as much $ as possible. I have 4 yrs CDL experience, 2 1/2 being OTR & the other 1 1/2 doing local dedicated routes. What’s your experience with walk away leases on trucks? Do you have any reputable companies you’d recommend?
I’ve seen really high income potential but also concerned several of them are scams. Looking to make at least 2k a week after expenses. Thank you!

Just remember that in a “walk away lease”, either party can “walk away “ at anytime.
Take a minute and think of the possibilities with that term.

You didn't pay attention to his post. He wants a walk away lease ... he's risk adverse and expecting to fail. Buying his own truck is to risky and he'll BK when he can't make the payments.

Read the contract. Better yet, get a lawyer to read the contract, I've never seen a truck lease of any kind that didn't favor the leaser.

Agreed, but you ever see any lease, house, car, building that doesn't favor lessor? I have not. If I was leasing a unit, product and writing the lease, it will favor me. Just business. Now I'm not suggesting anyone to do a lease purchase. Yet we have some members that work hard and have completed them. I commend them for hustle. But I still wouldn't recommend them.

You’d be far better off just running team for a reputable trucking company. Probably would bring in closer to $200k between the two of you as company drivers.
Trucks are pushing over $200k to buy, the worse part is the down time for unexpected repairs. My last new truck was in the shop close to 40 days over five years, but I know a few guys that had a far worse experience.
Lease purchases are a way for companies to download expenses to you.

The only company I would ever guide anyone to a lease purchase deal is dsv out of missoula montana.. I wa successful with their lease purchase program but i would not recommend it... There is much easier ways to make a living in this industry.. Lease purchase is the most difficult way to ever make money... I would recommend being team drivers as well.. Probably the best way to make the most money possible for a couple.

thank you for your advice, I’m not looking at lease to purchase I’m looking at walk away leases. Unfortunately team driving isn’t an option for us my wife has really bad seizures from her epilepsy, she can’t even have a driver’s license. I was hoping for advice from people who have done walk away leases & what companies they’d recommend & which to steer away from. Thank you!
