I tell a lot of people about them. Depending on where you live they can get their drivers in a couple nights a week and weekends off. Some areas in nightly. They just got some new KW's. They haul a lot of shingles and building supplies. Shingles is nice no tarping. You have to have 6 months exp. with them though. Hope this helps.

notarps do you work for them?? I live in effingham, il, maybe 100 miles away from there. I wouldnt mind going out for 2 or 3 weeks at a time. but I would like some hometime, working on remodeling my house to sell it. more hometime = less pay. I am used to staying out for long periods of time, seeing as how I started with prime. been out since christmas lol, but spent a week in sarasota last week visting some friends, while my co driver got some things done at his house 100 miles south of there. i might have to check into them, problem is i only have close to 3 mos otr exp. :laughing9:

No I don't. I was going to hire on with them last summer, but had been off the road to long. I needed to have 6 months recent. I have talked to a lot of their drivers. They deliver in my area. See their trucks all the time. I know one of their former drivers. He drove for them for 6 or 7 years. He was almost always in 2-3 nights a week and home every weekend. His Monday delivery was usually close enough he could roll Monday morning to make it. He was on the shingles account. That is what he hauled most of the time. Delivered to a lot of local home supply places here. If it was not for having to do the 6 months somewhere else to qualify for them I would have jumped on it.

Everyone I checked with wanted a refresher course to get my foot in the door to get recent driving exp. Was only one company that would talk to me without the refesher and I had no intention of going to work for them. You will need 6 months recent with them. Do your time somewhere and check back with them if you are interested. Good luck to you!

Well guys and girls, I signed on to Wabash Valley July 30th and its been a joke. The pay sucks, the miles sucks. plain and simple. The way the company (Schilli) is split up is really strange. Your pay and driver personal is one "company"the trucks are all owned my "Schilli Leasing" the office people work for another schilli co. The mechanics are owned by another, the office personal all work for one of the 5 i think companies. This should have raised a red flag, but I stuck it out. I had a day and a half of paper work. Oh yeah if i dont give a two week notice they will only pay me Min wage for the past two weeks i worked, at 55 hours ! What a crock!

My first load, I was suppose to get a day cab, pickup in Michigan City,In and drop shingles at the termal in Sholes,In. Well the truck had no tags, papers, anything ! It was being "leased" to the "shuttle" company they own that runs out of the USG plant in Sholes. I got all the papers i needed, but it was 80 miles to get load and a 1 1/4 to go get it. There was 3 detours, i didnt make it ! I called and told them that they will be closed in 10 mins and i was 25miles from there. There was a detour on 421N. He told me that he would pay me all loaded miles for this, turn around and deadhead to sholes,in to deliver that daycab. Meet up with another new driver to ride with him to Louisville,Ky to the CAT shop to get my truck.

A 04 T800 with 541000 miles on it ! At least it has a sleeper that is bigger then 36inches like the Freightliners they have. I was told that I would be home 1-2 nights plus weekends. I got to my shop in Mt.Vernon,In and meet the rudest people in the world. Just plain snotty. They asked me what kind of miles and hometime i wanted. They told me,that the "blue" trucks dont get home during the week. They run too many miles, WELL i just might get 1700 miles this week ! I think, they dont tell me my miles ! They just say its based on Randmcnally miles ! I have made the exact run twice and it paid 50miles less !

All i have heard from WVT drivers is complaints. At Mt.Vernon this time last year there was 165 drivers, now there are 27 !

There are no such things as a pre-plan. I get unloaded and have to wait till 7:30 before my DM comes to work to tell me that there is nothing. So I wait till around 11am to get a 100 dead 550 loaded run, that has to be there at 8am. NP you say? well load times are set about 2 hours after you get to the shipper, and the times are set. They will not try to change them. Why you ask? Because they have to go "through" 3 Schilli companys just to do that. So this weekend I am looking for another company. Most drivers are only bringing home about $450 a week !

I really want to own, I am looking at some lease company's. Have talked to a few drivers from differnet places. And they are doing pretty good. Any ideas on a good lease flatbed company?

Went to work for Schilli / Wabash in October. You sign a contract that they hold you to. To bad they do not hold themselves to it. A two sided coin. In the beginning I got good miles and stayed moving. Then they left me stranded in Miami for over 5 days and I made a mistake by complaining. After that I ran small miles, was stranded many times and then strated not getting my checks. Some problem with the Postal Service they say. Then the straw that broke the camels back was my check was supposed to be over 1600 then taxes and such taken out. To my amazement it was a grand total of 405 dollars and change. They made me pay for deadhead fuel, an accident I never had and money they advanced me when they made me stay in hotels. You figure. Do yourself a favor do not work for these people. By the way they do have good equipment even though you will have to work for atleast 3 weeks to get the nasty smells out of them.
