Does anyone know, and I know it's gone the other way in the past few years, but for a very long long time the majority of major mega fleets ran Wabash Trailers, all of them Schneider, J.B. Hunt, Werner etc etc you name it they all had Wabash trailers. Does anyone know why this is? I know in recent years Schneider has played around with Hyundai and Great Dane and has gotten away a little bit from Wabash. However, Wabash was #1 for a long long long time, what was the draw? Is the draw price, quality or the fact that they were a newer in the mid 1980s manufacturer and had some different ideas that the other companies didn't have?

    Just wondering.

    Thanks.

Buying Fruehauf didn't hurt Wabash. Wabash trailers cost less. We just bought 2 new 2019's a month ago for around 30k each and my new 2019 Utility was 40k these are dry vans.

I am about to buy a 2011 Washbash plate Van. Are they good trailers? My choice is one of those or a Dane.

If you buy a Wabash DuraPlate Van, buy the HD version with the 22" metal band around the bottom of the trailer.

That goes for any plate van, if not over time the side plates will start to stretch out and be permanently bulged out.

Having pulled all different brands the lower price point in Wabash dry boxes definitely shows in their quality. They have the highest rate of leaking trailers right from the factory in my experience, and I’ve also noticed having more electrical problems with Wabash than any other brand. Also apparently Wabash doesn’t do much of an alignment on their trailers from the plant, pulled a number with a dog track brand new.

The skirts with the flexible plastic pieces on the bottom will eventually break off after hitting so many different angled driveways, docks and ramps.

It's better to get the one piece flexible skirts like Green Wing that conform back to their original shape after hitting different angled driveways and docks.

None of the manufacturers align new trailers. They eyeball it close enough and the production line rolls on. It's considered dealer prep.
