This past week, 8/6, I have heard of at least 4, maybe 5 drivers that have been pulled in the Ga Scales, on 75 in Ringgold Ga. Just south of the GA/TN state line.
Both NB and SB sides. I know of 2 drivers that have recieved tickets for being over weight. Its to my understanding that one drivers gorss weight was roughly around 65k, unknown as to what he had in the box.
another driver had a Lincoln Electric Load that he pulled out of Five Star in northen OH, legally made all the way through OH, KY and TN, got to Ga, and a local driver had to gto to the SB scale in Ringgold Ga and off load some of the freight, and was issued a ticket somewhere between $500-$650.

unofficial word is that the Ga scales are writting up drivers that are over 20,000lbs PER INDIVIDUAL AXLE, not the 34k, 34k, 12k.
weather or not this is legal I dont know, and im trying to find out more as to how and why Ga scales are doing this.

If I were any of you, coming into the Dalton area, or Leaving heading north east or west, ( have to cross the scales either way ) I would most def. take the Cleavland Bypass.

Coming into Ga from the North, I75 sb to exit 25. make a right off the exit, go a few miles, go through town, if I had to take a guess, id say roughly 5-7 miles. this is US HWY 60 follow the signs for 60( Dalton Pike ) youll see signs for Dalton Ga. your gonna take this for about 25 miles or so, straight into Dalton.
when you come up to the North Dalton Bypass, ( just past waffle house)you can turn either Left or right,
Turning right will take you back to the interstate, where youll go South, 8 miles to the Carbondale exit.
Turning Left youll go 15 miles directly to the terminol on South Dug Gap Road, on the Left.

I always ran this way when I was dedicated Dalton/Taylor, and if memory serves correctly, this is the way the QM sends you.
I highly recomend going this way,
its 30 miles less, however its 30 mins faster.
    when leaving just reverse this.

34000 lbs is for tandem axels ( 17000 PER AXEL). 20000lbs. is for single axel except steers which is 12500 lbs. go scale your loads before hitting scales to make sure your legal.

I got the red light on pre-pass on 75 sb twice and once on the sb side of 95 even when I was empty. I always got the bypass lane even when I was loaded to 79980 gross.
