I have a 2001 Volvo with the D12, it had a Eaton Fuller ultra shift. I pulled the automatic out of is and put a 10 speed manual in it and I lost power and it will only rev out to 1700ish, it feels like the power drops off around 1500ish. When it had the automatic in it you could rev it out to about 2200. The speedometer isn’t working either. Called Volvo and they don’t know anything about it to help me out.

Did this truck come with 3 petals factory or just 2?
Now did you do the work yourself or had a shop do the work?

This is one thing I cannot understand. A engine has parameters and a red line, in your case about 2150 or so. Usually there is a communication with the automatic transmission back and forth to it's computer. Both would work together.

You probably removed something when you lopped off the automatic transmission. I guess the theory needs the truck to go to a dealer and be opened up to run 2200 if at all possible via software.

Even if you could get to 2150 red line, at 1700 you pretty much have used up beneficial horsepower and the curve will drop off the closer you get to red line RPM. I hope you did not feel the torque somewhere at 1500. The truck would be undrivable at that point, particularly with tall 10 speeds. You should be able to lug down to 1300 or so give or take before you have to downshift. 1300 to 1700 would be a pretty good working range on a 2150 engine.

IF you are saying 1700 is all you get now, then there has to be something in the software that is limiting you to that RPM. Again maybe the dealer can open it up and reconfigure it to reach it's true red line at 2150.

I don't know what else to tell you. If I was going to put a manual into a truck it's going to be a 13 speed of some kind because you have more options with it than a standard 10. Although I can understand 10's when you give the truck to a younger less experienced driver who may not necessarily know how to use a 13 very well.

I was told if I get the speedometer working it will go out of “park” mode, does anyone know what wires go to the VSS on the transmission?

Need to change programming accordingly for manual trans in the engine ecu and vehicle ecu or change vehicle ecu usually pin in the a s s to do this properly.

I was told if I get the speedometer working it will go out of “park” or neutral mode, does anyone know what wires go to the VSS on the transmission?

When the automatic was in it the truck would rev to about 1700 rpm in “neutral” but when you put it in gear and went it would shift out about 1800RPMs, but it pulled hard all the way to 1800,,, and if you used the manual mode you could rev it to about 2100ish,,, but now it only revs up to 1700 max and seems like it has less power going up to that point.
