So Everyone knows that Volvo Headlights suck. Either the reflector has melted off or the lens is yellowing.
The 2015-2016 (I believe) has the new LED lights, which will work in 2007+ models.
I have a few questions.
1.) If I get a regular HID set up, will it still work and I just get a (check) notification on the dash?
1a.) Whats so special about the Deep Space lighting that makes them cost $475? That they can take some vibration?
2.)OEM Volvo LED headlights are $800 each form the dealer. Are there other good options out there yet? Quality Chinese knockoffs?
3.) Has anyone got headlights from "Trux Accessories"? Their TLED-H19 looks promising, but I am hesitant to go through without any real world reveiws

I've seen lights for Volvo at the FL parts departments at different dealerships. This would be a complete fixture, right and left were available. I drove a 780 for one day, the headlights were not too good.
I like the stock headlights on Cascadia, overall. -
Genuine are Truck-Lite. They are worth it.
Check light on the dash anytime there is a lower than expected power draw from the circut (any LED). You can turn it off in LCM settings, so dash will be clear.
The Chineese LED knock offs have a good light output, but low quality. Don’t expect them to last over a year. One or the other will stop working.
I drove on Trux too, regular halogen is better than Volvo stock, but just as good as halogen can get, not even close to LED. The full LED variant is just as expensive as Truck Lite.Last edited: Jan 31, 2019
KB3MMX Thanks this. -
Does anyone have the part number for the OEM Volvo LED headlights?
Our dealer was selling the Chinese knockoffs, but they had so many warranty returns, they stopped selling them. -
Some dealers have sales on the truck lite LEDs. I paid $377 for each from S&S in Ohio. It was close to 2 years ago but well worth it imho

Just from experience
Hid
Vs
Led oem from Volvo. You can’t compare the two. The led low beam is 150x brighter where you’ll never need the high beams
And oh boy let me tell you about the highbeam.... super bright goes 2x as much as the low beams. -
Ok, LCM Programming...I just want to make sure I understand this correctly. The ONLY THING IT WILL CAUSE IS A WARNING ON THE DASH, thats its right? aka people here are just complaining that a (check) comes up on the dash and its "annoying" because the dash is not clear. There is no functionality lost.
If thats the case, (in my opinion), buying a $30 HID kit with lifetime warranty is worth the risk while keeping an eye out for a LED sale. -

For that reason you will not know if you have them on or not (other than from recognizing increased range of your headlights, or people flashing at you, or just trying to remember if you put them on).Last edited: Feb 2, 2019
