I have a 07 volvo with 10 speed eaton. Today my driver while at pickup destination, the pedal got really hard all of a sudden and he could not put it into a gear easily. He managed to bring it out of the yard but I don't think he should be driving to a shop like this.
Any suggestions on what to look for and how to bring it to a shop?
Thanks

Linkage...Prolly ok to drive to a shop if he knows how to not use clutch when shifting.
-
....are most Volvo's not hydraulic clutch?
Every one I've seen was.....Duckman1005 Thanks this. -
Could be...only driven one for very short time & dumb me...I should know...if so..
still cross shafts fork, etc. -
Hydraulic clutch.
The service guy said its the clutch... clutch is all red -
I have seen that caused by the hydraulic system and there is a post on here from someone else. Could be a bad master or slave cylinder.
What is clutch is all red? -
There is a pin that connects the shaft to the fork, same pin that is used for the brakes on the truck. Codder key breaks off and is hard to push and does not fully engage.
Replace pin and use a heavier/thicker key. -
I will be talking to the mechanic tomorrow. Exactly what should I be saying to him? Service call person said the clutch needs to be changed because its all red.
There is no oil leak. -
WTF..RED?? Please...insist a on an understandable explanation of "the clutch is red". 20+ year parts/service manager here.
I'm cornfused. -
I didnt see the clutch, my driver and mechanic saw it and said its burnt.
The truck is 400 miles away
My driver slowly moved the truck to a shop near by. It stays in one gear and brakes don't really work
