YouTuber did just that. I think it was a female named Koko or something. Towed and stored at their yard. Towing + storage fee not cheap

 

Crap I skipped over some stuff Lol. I'm with these guys, not a chance in hell I'd leave the truck unattended.

 

And here we have the ethic and rational of the truly enlightened.

So do you really feel no responsibility for the load you are entrusted with simply because you have logged off duty for the night?

 

Am I going to leave the keys in the truck with it running in Harlem? No. Would I lock the truck up and go to a local place to eat or maybe a museum or short hike. Absolutely, I’ve done it many times and will continue to do so, worry free.

 

I drive past that service plaza nearly everyday. Can't recall ever seeing empty spots. Keep in mind that the plazas have parking time limits and the contracted tow companies are very vigilant.

I saw one towtruck hooking up to a parked truck and had the steers in the air before the driver inside decided it was a good idea to stop ignoring the knocks on his door and went out to cuss the tow operator.

A 4 figure towing/storage charge would be a much bigger concern than theft. I've spent many nights parked on the street/in rest areas in the Newark NJ area and never had or saw anyone having trouble with dbags.

 

Had a company unit with an expired NJ emissions decal.

The tow/over night storage charges were more than the fine.

Get towed on a Friday night and it won't be 'available' until Monday, BTW Cash only.

Redtwin is right. North Bergen has some places off Paterson Plank Road like westside ave.. that could work

 

I've stayed there a few times back in my reefer days, as often we would sit for a day after delivering in nyc. You can just walk across the ramp to the bus station and take the express bus right into Penn Station. Of course, I was always empty when doing this, and just went over during daylight hours.

My justification was that it was no different than sitting inside the building all day like some people. My wife and I made the trip 3 or 4 times with no trouble.
