What does it mean when a company asks for verifyable driving experience?

How is any driving experience, mainly miles and time, verifyable? When wouldn't it be verifyable?

My understanding is... even if I work for a company for a year and rack up 130000 miles. When I apply at a new company, and they call my previous company, said previous company doesn't have to tell them my miles driven. About all they are required to confirm is my dates of employment. So... how is any miles driven EVER verifyable?

I asked a company once, and they gave a vague answer of "we will do it". Well..... ok, whatever, but HOW does any company verify miles driven?

As an o/o I've been finding this one difficult. Your previous company might not want to give up the data because of trade secrets, numbers on invoices, any number of reasons.

Good luck I'm sure one of these guys will have an answer ir make up something that sounds good

Like RW said it is more a time verification as most companies (except local) will run between 95"000-120,000 a year for long haul OTR. Some will verify states (for instance someone running south east regional not getting winter experience) driven. But most starter companies are lower 48.

A lot depends on how you leave. Major companies just release the file with notes from safety, customer service(like late loads) , and normally a close from last fleet manager. Not saying they may or may not be truthful but walking out like a man usually garners decent results.

I can talk to a "driver" 3 minutes, and tell if he's worth investing in. Paper only matters if Accidents are an issue.

Yeah but how many talk to them? Anyone asking for verifiable is catering to their insurance provider.

If you only drove one truck and matched up exactly to the quarter that would work. But, would they want to give that up if it wasn't your truck and they were just filing IFTA on your behalf?

Other than training (which I really don't count for 'miles driven'), I just go by how many miles my truck has moved from the day I've got it. I had a few students, but I count all miles on the odometer since I got it as mine.
