I was wondering if any of the Van Lines hire people without CDL experience. I was also curious if with the Van Line companies i would have to run team or if they have people to help load and unload once you get to your location.

Some do hire without experience. Recently posted on here, a driver said a moving company representive came to his CDL class and hired almost the whole class; probably because summertime is the busiest time. They usually hire a crew to load/unload, though sometime I've seen a driver & codriver do it. Most seem to prefer hiring a crew.
One new CDL driver posted he was hired by United Van Lines in Tampa. Many moving companies also have agents that hire and will have their own fleet of trucks. You can apply with the major name moving companies and also apply with their agents. Check Google and Yellow Pages.

Right now is their "peak season" so your chances of getting in are MUCH better RIGHT NOW.
So if you want to just get in...that's your best option without going into a "training Mill"
But I don't know if its worth it,bc unless you are in your early twenties,it's really hard work!
As far as the labor/helpers go....think of it as a "romper room" of 20 toddlers. YOU will have to babysit and you will do most of the labor and all the while babysit grown men and still do 99% of the job!
You can also ask for "intra only" or local tonnage, that'll get your foot in the door. But this job is all about hard labor and organization ,driving IS the easiest part of the job,it's the only rest you will get!!!! You'll load/unload for AT LEAST 10 hours a day THEN try and drive as many miles as you can fit in.
I started in the industry back in 1983 ,not much has changed except for csa, so if you're young,I'd say go for it. You can pm me if you want,I know a lot of people all over the country that could help you,but like I said it's only helpful to get you some miles under your belt. -
I'm 26 now and wanted to start as a company driver and eventually become an owner operator with one of the van lines. I was hoping to drive solo so my wife could come with me.

I've moved several times, once from Long Beach, CA to Nashville, TN. That time the driver was an 0/0 with a company called Rebel. He showed up by himself so I helped him load the truck. Didn't mind though since it was my stuff & he was a decent guy. Being a trucker myself, it was just fine with me. The company sent some guys in to pre-pack in preparation for the trucks arrival & they were real whiners, complaining about everything such as why did I have all those heavy books to pack and on and on, plus they stole some stuff. My best experience was with Ellis Moving & Storage in Nashville, TN which is an agent of North American Van Lines (NAVL). They moved me from Nashville, TN to Beijing, China; it was a flawless move with nothing damaged or missing. Used about half of a 40' container and it was very cheap. Fantistic people to deal with. Now with a home in Beijing & Nevada, I just use a suitcase when I split my time.

Me and my wife are planning on moving back to Tennessee within the next couple of years. I would love to be able to get on with one of the van lines that will let my wife ride with me, but i figure i'm going to have to go with a regular company to get some driving experience first.
