Sorry if this has been posted, but I have noticed a few of my tires going low. At first glance, it looks to be a valve hole or valve stem issue. I'm going to take them in for inspection but in the meantime, have any of you had any issues with valve stems or valve hole leakers? If so, what was the problem and solution?

I use steel wheels and haltec stems

    Thanks for your time

Try to tighten them sometimes that's all they need

Air does expand when you are rolling and contract when it cools down.

How much are you loosing daily/weekly?

My jeep shows low air pressure on cold days, but as soon as the tire warms up the sensor is happy.

Often it's either the locking nut on the inside isn't tight enough or the rubber grommet on the inside is worn. Either way, it means taking the tire at least half way off the rim to get to it.

Or rust if they've been untouched for a few years.

Tried soapy water yet? Why take it to get inspected until you check it out, it may be something simple you can fix on the spot.

The core has a rubber o ring that does dry out... it could be something as simple as replacing the valve core. I'd try this before the added expense of replacing the valve stem.

    aiwiron Thanks this.

I have found keeping the valve stem cap on at any time besides checking the pressure is vital, I have watched DOT write up a driver for no valve stem caps before.

Sometimes a little dirt will get into the valve stem and cause a slow leak, just saying.

The other day when I was drying my wheels after washing the truck I heard a slight hiss coming from the tire, it ended up being a leaky valve stem. I checked all of the tires and had three stems that had slight leaks, I just tightened the core a little more and that cured the problem.

If the core is weak centrifigal force can make them leak going down the road. Always put steel caps on the stem. Or at least send us the video of you hanging off the side checking them with a spray bottle at 60 MPH. LOL
