I grew up in WV so I should know the answer to this, but it's been many, many years since I've been out in that part of the state and it wasn't in a truck.
How is US60 between US19 and Sam Black Church @ I64? Is this shortcut worth it while pulling a relatively heavy 53' box? I know this used to be the only way to go before 64 was finished between SBC and 77.

I've never driven it personally, but I hear it has a couple nasty switchbacks.
But a driver I know said it's not bad road.ChevyCam, rabbiporkchop and truckdriver31 Thank this. -
I drove it about 15 years ago trying to save the $12 turnpike toll...... yes it does have a few nasty switchbacks..... I ran it from just south of Charleston all the way to 64. I don’t remember much about it but, I remember never to do it again.
Come to think of it.... I know the part from Rainelle to 64 isn’t that bad. I dont remember exactly where the switchbacks were.....truckdriver31 Thanks this. -
I drove it some years back. Wouldn’t do it again.
ChevyCam, rabbiporkchop and truckdriver31 Thank this. -
From what I could see on the map, I don’t think I’d want to try it.
rabbiporkchop and truckdriver31 Thank this. -

I have 2 trucks. 425 horsepower Mack and a 550 Peterbilt. I tell brokers all the time, "I don't go over anything 25k past I 81 with my trucks west" let the company trucks run all they want over there with there brand new motors and watch the brakes burn with the transmissions.
I 64 and I 77 the best way with anything heavy. At least you have somewhere to pull over for over heated motor and brakesChevyCam and truckdriver31 Thank this. -
I run US19/US74 to murphy nc all the time. believe it or not its still a truck road
