Any advice on taking US 321 from Lenoir, NC to Elizabethton, TN?
The route appears to be ok my Rand McNally atlas. I'll be pulling a 9,000 pound load in a 53' trailer.
My Garmin wants me to go I-40-240-26 basically, a 140 mile trip. If I take US 321 it's only 70 miles.

Ive take 321 from Lenoir to Boone then 421 into Bristol area. The way youre talking about going....I think that stretch of US 19 is pretty rough! Its gonna take you longer to go that way vs I40-26

Thanks for the reply!
I was planning on taking 40/26 but I need an extra half hour to make it home tommorow..but I can see where 70 miles longer could be quicker..MOBee Thanks this. -
Well I took 321 from Lenoir to Elizabethton. Surprisingly the road surface was in great condition in NC and TN.
Other than off-tracking over the double yellow, not to much to worry about other than that 7% descent through S-curves with 90 at the bottom..
The tree 'tunnels' were well manicured which showed a lot of trucks take that route.
Just thankfull I didn't meet that hammered down day cab going the other way in the 20mph curve -
Oh and it took an hour and fifty minutes to go the 70 miles, forty minutes quicker than I-40/26 would have been.
I made it home!Bean Jr., MOBee, JoeyJunk and 1 other person Thank this. -
Thats good to know!!! Just in case I ever need it!
