I have been employed at UPS Freight for 4 years it s been a struggle at times running the extra board , but nothing like ive experienced this last month .... I havent been called out in two weeks . I Love the company but lately i cant make a living so iam having to take a leave of absence and i got on at Averitt to do regional.. It just depends on where u are in the U.S. but they pay well the longer u stay . Its a great job if you can stand the slooooooow time . I give them a high score but i cant wait for them to call me to work i got to make a check... Good luck God Bless...

1. What is meant by "linehaul?" When I look at UPS job openings, I see various job titles under the UPS freight division, but nothing linehaul. So do all "freight" division driver job titles (OTR driver; Dry Van Dedicated driver, etc) have basically no touch freight and they don't have any physical demands other than driving?
2. The only qualification mentioned is a Class A (and physical); not experience. Is UPS likely to hire a new driver without experience with another trucking company? And how well do they pay? -

1. That is the link you need for UPS road or linehaul drivers and city drivers. Linehaul and road are the same thing. You can search by state or zip code. On the left side of the page it lists truckload, mechanic, dockworker which you dont want any of that although if you have a cdl you can hire in p/t as a dockworker and then work your way up to a city driver.
2. UPS Freight wants 18 months minimum whether they state that or not unless you hire on part time as a dockworker with cdl, dockworkers only make $10.50 hourly. Pay is okay to start and gets way better. .37 cpm all driving time and $15 and change per hour for everything else (breakdowns, fuel, delay) top rate at the end of the contract is .66 cpm and $26.15, you get raises yearly until you hit top rate after 3 years.Jason201 Thanks this. -
