HEre i quote myself. I did tell that on JULY 20th this year.
"Well seems like autotransport.com do not pay carriers anymore just because they are not paid by the carmax. Well if is the truth so shortly UR and RPM or whatever carmax has a signed contract right now will be doing the same. So i guess we got to keep an eye on all Carmax loads wherever they come from as they are likely not to be paid for :(. "

And that was an apology letter from autotransport.com (previous Carmax broker)
This is an email from them.
"Hello, I apologize for the your delay in payment, we are currently going through an issue with carmax, they actually owe us quite a large sum of money. We did not realize we hadn’t been paid until we started getting calls and emails about checks bouncing on our transporters, because of this we unfortunately are having to hold onto all transporters checks until this issue is resolved. We do not want to send you a bad check. We are hoping to send out all Transporters checks that are past due as soon as we receive the funds owed to us by carmax. We are hoping to have this all resolved by the end of the month, but we are at the mercy of carmax at this point. Again, I do apologize for this.

I been hauling for them past 4 months and recently switched to two day ACH payment because the 30 day pay was taking more than 30 days now I get it quick and so far "knock on wood" no issues and yeah taking a 5% hit for two day but keeps the cash coming

They should be able to catch up quickly since it appears the loads they sub should cover the millions in loss pretty fast.

That’s $1.60 a mile. Why would someone move a truck for that?? At that rate you going out of business wether or not of you get paid.

It was bad enough when everyone with a pickup truck became a car hauler but about the same time Wall Street got involved I think U.R. has been bought and sold twice by investment companies . Metrogistics and another were bought by another wall street investment company. So I don't see anything changing anytime soon unless there are 10 hurricanes next year you may see a bump in rates.

Again remember this. It’s the truck owners that set the rates. If nobody agrees to The cheap rates. They will have to pay what people will move them for.

So not only are you confused about the roles that brokers play in controlling the rates, you seem to think that the reason why we are seeing $1.60/mi stinger loads posted is because of "the guys in the pickup trucks"?

I think that the low rates are caused by an imbalance between supply and demand. If pickup guys add to the overall supply, they are part of the reason rates are where they are. All carriers with a USDOT number above mine are the problem in my eyes. Just kidding! Where do you run @Nobroker ? Rates in the NE and MW are OK right now because the sunshine truckers don't want to play in the snow.

I know you’re “sorta” kidding and there’s a whole lot of truth in what you say. The “something is better than nothing” is what’s biting the rates, IMHO.

    Tropsnart Thanks this.
