Anyone have any comment on the Uniden PC78LTW ? I have been trying to research CBs and like what this one has to offer in its features and its looks (green backlit). Plus I have found that it is made in the USA. I have been told that Cobra is made in China, but I can not confirm this. Does anyone know if this is true or have anything to say about these radios?
Here is what I have found on them.

As much as I'd like to agree with you about the "American made products" it's getting pretty sad when so many of these products stamp "Made with Pride in America" on a box which means little more than that some automated factory in downtown LA has a robot that puts a bunch of Chinese components together and packages them up, just so the American Sheeple will buy that "American Made" product. The sentiment is good, I'd much rather have something that contributed entirely to our domestic economy, but they are hard to find these days.
As a side note, anyone remember mid to lat 90's when they did a few specials on the Japanese town of Usa which was packaging products from all over Japan with "Made in USA," they weren't lying, actually being pretty ingenious. lol.squirrellsgnwild Thanks this. -
its only american if it says made in U.S.A. USA with out the periods is not america

I, too, would lean towards a CB radio "Made in U.S.A."
But there aren't any.
Nearly all Uniden CB's are made in the Philipines (none in the USA); Cobras are made in China (as you mentioned).
Hope this helps with your decision. As others said, either radio is good choice, but the Cobra 29 gets the slight nod, IMO.squirrellsgnwild Thanks this. -
according to techs on many forums the are pretty much the same but the uniden uses a thicker mother board and some of its components hold up better when tuned .
what i do know is that my sparkified 78ltw kicks ###!!Last edited by a moderator: Nov 13, 2008

no versus to it. except fot the dials and the faceplate, all the rest is identical and interchangeable. they are for all intents and purposes the same radio. I have a president grant that I've had for about 13 years. plan on keeping it. You couldn't run fast enough to give me a 959 or the like. You don't buy a broom when you need a mop.
