In the manual it states with rf gain active, key the mic and adjust with the channel selector. On my radio when I activate rf gain and it lights up red, the word local flashes on the screen. When I key the mic it shuts off the rf gain. If I hold down the rf gain until it turns red, local flashes on the screen and I can adjust it without keying the mic. How do I adjust the rf gain not on local? In regular mode my s/rf graph is always at about a 5, very noisy. If I press rf gain button without it turning red, it switches to local and the graph is blank, radio not noisy. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Do you by chance of the SWL button pressed? (I made this mistake a few times being forgetful).

SWL button? I dont see anything labeled swl.

It's like I can only adjust rf gain on local, not on anything else.

Sorry, SWR.

It's okay. Nope SWR not pressed. I'm trying to make the radio not as noisy in regular mode just like local, but I can't find anything that shows me how. In standard mode, I have to turn the squelch way up to get out the noise.

If you push RF Gain button and hold for a second that will activate adjustment mode, then key mic and turn channel selector knob and set to desired level, then hold in button again to deactivate. If just push the RF Gain button but do not hold for a second or two it will either turn on local or turn off , the local filter is to be used in areas where they may be increased static and interference due to lights and power lines, it is similar to high cut feature on other Uniden models.

Dont know why the RF Gain deactivates when you key mic, try keying mic then hold in button. In my manual there is no mention of local filter at all, just kind of found it one time while messing around with it.

Pushing the rf gain button does switch local off and on, but when I try to set the gain for regular not local, it doesn't allow me to. As soon as I key the mic, it shuts the rf gain adjustment off. I even tried it not keying the mic, same result.

Is this a new radio? Has anyone been inside the radio to do a mod?
