I was wondering if someone could help me out.
I’m from Ontario Canada and currently looking into getting my AZ or DZ trucking license. (Early next year I’ll be moving to New Brunswick.)
I’m a little confused on terms associated with trucking.
Here in Ontario you can type AZ drivers/DZ driver on indeed and see all the jobs available.
BUT when you type those terms on indeed in New Brunswick nothing shows up. It seems they go by a “Class 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9”??? How exciting does this work, and how can you tell which license you need for each class?
If you look up Class 1 or Class 3 drivers, so many trucking jobs show up. What I don’t understand is which license goes inside each class.
If someone has some experience with this or knows a lot more than I do, your knowledge would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry I’m very new to this and would like some guidance from some veterans.
Thanks Andrew.

An “AZ” licence in Ontario is the equivalent to a Class 1 license. (Tractor trailer combination).
A “DZ” license is the equivalent to a Class 3 license. (Straight trucks - concrete ready mix trucks, garbage trucks, dump trucks, etc).
A “G”license is the equivalent to a Class 5. (Passenger vehicles).
“Z” indicates air brake endorsement. For example: BZ would be for a bus with air brakes.
Here’s a link to the Ontario licensing classification chart.
