When I go to the Beacon the guys ask if I want it washed under the hood and I’ve always said no because I’m paranoid about water getting into my electrical system. We’ve had the truck a while though and it’s not looking nearly as pretty as it used to so I’m wondering is there any harm in letting them clean under the hood?

I always let them wash under the hood and never had any issues. It gets rid if the winter road chemicals. But I'm sure others on here will say otherwise.
Andreybanyuk, Midnightrider909 and flood Thank this. -
Do you have insulation blanket under your hood?
If not, then cleaning under the hood may be a good thing.
Out of all the trucks I have and had, never had one issue with them cleaning the rest under the hood stuff.Andreybanyuk, UsualSuspect and Midnightrider909 Thank this. -
I used to get mine done every other wash. And after driving in snow first chance I got.

I'm company, but I do it all the time myself. Just have to be careful and not spray directly on electrical components and the air intake. I've also had our mechanics show me some tips, tricks, and places to never hit.

I've owned 2 trucks and I've never had an issue with either of them washing under the hood... it helps mine tremendously especially when you get inspected. DoT cant say, well driver looks like you got an oil leak...

I always tell them i have a wiring problems.
So stand back cause I dont want that high pressure hitting my wiring.
Never actually had a problem, and never had a problem with them doing as I asked.Midnightrider909, baha and Midwest Trucker Thank this. -
No problems ever. They tend to last a long time if your fenders keep down the spray.
Midnightrider909 and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
Wash away driver. It's not different then washing your car engine.
And unless you got some exposed wiring in there somewhere that might effect the running of engine. You should be ok.Andreybanyuk, bzinger and Midnightrider909 Thank this.
