Has anyone here fabricated their own dunnage rack under their trailer? I'm going to my local steel supply house next week sometime (if I have time, it's been busy as he!! lately) to pick up material needed to fabricate a dunnage storage rack or cage.
Any pictures & ideas would be great.
Take care & stay safe out there.

Use screen material with 1/2" openings. That will allow any dirt that falls or washes off the dunnage to exit the rack.

Such as expanded metal? If that's what you're talking about that is what i plan on using since I have a few sheets of that left from fabricating a couple of multi brisket smokers.
Ralph, do you have pictures you can upload of your dunnage rack that you made? -
Exact same material. Sorry no pics. Use 2" angle iron for the frame work and use the screen material for the bottom, back and the ends. Put an 8" lip on the fron to keep boards from jumping out. A couple of bungees to close up the opening and you're golden!
If you're pulling a step deck and you have 8' pieces to store have a welding shop fab up two pieces that fit in your stake pockets and are wide enough to accomodate your dunnage. This way you can keep your dunnage stowed against the kick/drop and it's accessable when you need it. I have seen guys use them as a leveller/upright>not sure I would reccomend that though. -
I've been looking for something along these lines as well, but it has to be a clamp-on style as I can't drill any holes in the beams or it voids the warranty on my trailer. AREO industries makes a underbody kit for their side-kits that will work as a dunnage rack. i have not asked a price tho.

If all else fails and you can't find the right screen use the cross members and tie a strap over the dunnage and on each side of the frame rail , that'll keep it in place

My trailer has a dunnage rack I'll see if I can get a pic tomorrow. It's just clamped to the frame. Looks like it's all made of 2" angle iron.

We have used 4 pieces of angle iron clamped to the frame. The front and back pieces have plates welded to them. The two middle pieces have stakes welded to the ends.
