Our Experience with U.S. Xpress this week. We put our application in 2 an half months prior,we are husband and wife team with 3 years over the road ex. Our recruter stated we were all clear to come up and start work. All we had to do was pass a physical, driving test, drug test and we would be issued a new truck. We passed all the test required over three day period in class. Physical consist of you caring heavy dumb bell weights in a crate, climbing a ladder and walking down a hall with crate loaded with weights . The crate is very heavy especially for a female my shoulder began to hurt and ache down my arm. Then a basic checkup followed. All new employees who sign up to lease truck from company are seperated into another room and pushed to the front of hiring process. Also the female employees seem to show them special attention compared to other new hires.Eveyone was under the empression they had a job. The Instructor constantly bragged about being high on meds and he had so much in his system he himself would fail a drug test. But they are professionals at least thats the fake image they had chattanooga news team print about their company in news paper. All the people in class that passed their driving and drug test, were called into office one by one on last day to be told they had not been hired. Then they got the news that they would not be getting money spent to travel to orientation. Our recruter told us to rent a car, thank God we didnt, but lost 200 in fuel cost plus food money and time lost. Also you do not get the money you are promised to sit in class for three days of orientation unless you are hired. They do not tell you this over the phone during recruiting or in class. I brought it up to another student after I asked instructor who kinda didnt want to tell me the truth. I said I have my receipts and paper work filled out for reinburstment do I give it to you. Oh no you just take that in the office when they call you in if you are hired. So
I am not hired and only get money if we are hired? I Then announced it in class to let all the drivers know the truth about hidden information concerning their money.
The paid expense form is all the way in the back of the stack of forms they give you to fill out. You are shown a film on leasing a truck from company on first day and the new hires who lease become top priority.
I kinda wonder, she mentioned. if you pass the test required, you can be handed keys to your new truck right away stated the recruiter, she left out the lease part and the fact that you are not hired when you go through orientation. And the lease operators were interviewed by local news. Sorry you dont get the team pay for orientaion promised you loose 94.00 dollars times 3 days plus 200 in fuel , plus money used to buy breakfast and dinner. You do get a cheap tastless lunch in a foam container no drink included. Oh and if you ride the gray hound bus you need a ride home if you are not hired. The third day of orientation you are removed from hotel before they drop news bomb on you. The people who had no transportion had to make several trips in cold rainy weather back and forth to get luggage. Only one shuttle van availabled to transport new hires. So all your things are sitting piled up in class room on floor, so when they tell you the big news you are not hired. you got to leave the property and are on your own. I hate to tell you how many people were very angry because they were lied to and screwed out of alot of money and time. One man who drove from florida had two flat tires and spent 200 in fuel lost his temper when he was told he would not be reinbursed for monies spent to travel or orientation money. I became afraid to be in the building realizing the anger growing and anamosity among people in building. We know now that trucking is about cheap labor and this is their priority list. Lease operators save them 450 a week just on the truck payment they make not including the fuel they purchase on their own.Students are cheap labor to keep the truck rolling 24- 7 days aweek with trainer. After they are trained they sit and other students cheap labor replace them. This is the big trucking industry that has taken over in this country. They are also paid per student over two thousand per head they hire by the government we are told. So they get a free driver until they are trained from the incentive hire fee. This is the revolving door in the trucking business. So if your family is run over by a truck driver check to see if he even knew how to drive in the first place.Do not sign up for this company if you need income to pay your bills. If you live with your parents you may be able to survive financially. Stay away from large trucking companies if they are to big something is not right.

First of all let me tell you the truth about your hiring process. You are not hired until last day of Orientation. If you are hired, and they will make you think you are telling you your the best sitting in their room. You will not get money for sitting in Orientation for 3 to 4 days if not hired. You will not have transportaion home provided if not hired. You will not get fuel cost back on your receipts used to drive to Orientation personal vehicle. You get a cheap lunch in a white foam container small amount. Breakfast consist of a cheap small muffin that falls apart and cheap coffee provided at hotel. No drink included with lunch and no dinner.

were you lead to believe things would be different before you arrived there?
-
You have not said why you were not hired? Didn't they give you a reason?
-
I just got back from Orientation out of Colton, Ca. last night. I was disqualfied for no reason. Well at least they won't tell you. You have to fill out a form and mail it to Chattanooga, Tn for a letter telling why you were sent home. I was their for four days waiting on them to tell me to go home. Luckly I meet an O/O who also didn't get hired on because of some nitpicking on their part. So he took me and another guy home. My roommate actually did get hired on because this is his first driving job and they told him it would be two to three weeks before he got a trainer. So I am telling you now, don't go with US Xpress. They will lie to you. You can't get you three to four days back. Find somewhere else to go. If you do good luck with them.

I have a guess. Maybe it had something to do with her arm hurting boo hoo. Or, they flunked their drug tests.
Come on OP tell the truth, what happened? -

Ok drivers, be nice! She doesn't sound drugged at all. Give others the same respect and benefit of doubt you would want given to you.
Surely they give some reason as to why you where sent home? Did they have too many new hires in class so that not all where hired. If they did not have a good reason (like failing a test, didn't measure up to expectations (company felt you couldn't do the job) attitude, ect) not to hire me after having me spend hundereds ( you said two hundred gas to get there, 95 night motel for 4 nights, probably two hundred home) of dollars I think I would be inclined to take it to small claims court. If you file it cost 40 to file which you will receive back if you win. If you file in your state, county, city then U.S. Express has to come to court where you live. If they don't show then you win by default.
Might be something to think about. -
