Going East bound, you will hit a very curvy and steep sections going up to Monteagle. Going down on the east bound side is a very steaight and gentle descent from Tracy City down into Jasper. It's a very scenic route.

I stopped there every chance I got & the food was real good. Lots of room to park a truck.
As for Hwy. 41, I've used it to dodge the scales dozens of time pulling a 53' reefer. There's a shorter way to get around the scales, but they watch it sometimes.

Many years ago, ( early 80's) I took 41 down Monteagle, before it was widened, and there were tandem skid marks on every corner. It was tense in a pickup truck. When I got to the bottom, I stopped at a cafe, and talked to an old timer. He said, in winter, they only let one truck at a time on the "hill" and when the driver got to the bottom, he'd blow the horn and the next truck would go. They took a lot of those curves out.

I used it a few years back when they had that hazmat crash under the rail bridge...very pretty, curvy, but very doable.

    That road aint too bad.

The one I remember more than MontEagle would be just west of what I recall as Paris VA, that one featured a switchback loop that climbed to heaven itself. Hang the right steer over space, watch the trailer hog in the inside upgrade passing lane coming round and see nothing but sky around there.

Another would be old fancy gap, and Saluda. (This one is better than morning coffee for wakeup)

I had a driving school that insisted we cross ridges through the woods on small roads like Notchcliff which isnt designed for trucks. And that came in handy on many smaller roads through the East Coast which can be really something.

I hear PA took away many of these pathways now. No trucks here no trucks that no trucks there no no no. Land of no. HA....

No restriction but unnecessary. 10 better ways to not cross Manchester. Or you could just run legal.

BBQ shack behind Pilot used to be good.
