My lease purchase KW didn't come with a Manuel in it so I'm trying to get one and I am trying to find out the weight of the oil I need for a Kenworth T680 2016, it says Delo in the engine but no W by W of what it needs . Is it normal for the oil to get low quickly on a new tractor I'm guessing from lubricating everything up, it's right above the add line now, thanks for the help

My company has us put somthingW40 in the trucks anything from 10-15. Call Kenworth and see if they have manuals or if they are available for free online. Do your Pretrip and check for oil leaks.

Most likely delo 400le 15w40. This is a chevron product. However, a lot of new trucks are being filled with delo 400 xle synthetic blend 10w30. Chevron believed that this type of oil is suitable for harder engine circumstances such as construction trucks and equipment. Several fleets such as Ryder, Swift, and Schneider have all switched to this oil. I worked for a chevron jobber and delivered to a lot of trucking companies that made the switch. You could call KW.

How about you add what engine it is, how much mileage it's got, what conditions you run it in, and what type of oil filter you use?

yes it's normal for new engines to use some oil. just keep a close eye on it for a while. if the oil consumption doesn't go down soon. then there something wrong with it. it takes 60,000 miles for the engine to break-in. i have 5 2015 t-680 with the automatics. any 15/40 grade oil will work. i would call and see if the engine is running on break-in oil.

OP, my apologies if this sounds harsh but...Oh boy...this is just a "sign and drive event". Kinda like the trucking version of the housing bubble. This is a question you should know how to answer before taking responsibility to pay for a truck.

RERM, MJ1657 and Blackshack46 Thank this.

Dude! Walmart changes my oil. Why the hell do I need maintenance knowledge of a truck?!? Like, I don't even have the manual. Isnt that what ta roadservice is for?

RERM, sawmill and MJ1657 Thank this.
