I’m driving a 2020 Freightliner that had 1600 miles on it when I got it. After 2 months of driving it I noticed the right side airbags looked slanted. I’m being told that’s because the frame is twisted. I know haven’t come close to doing anything that should twist a frame. I can’t imagine a frame could be twisted without getting into an accident so it seems like it came this way from the manufacturer. In my mind that makes it a lemon. Please give your thoughts on this. Even if they can straighten it, will it be compromised and unsafe?

Have you slid your trailer tandems using the weight of your truck or have you used the dreaded newbie driveshaft method with trailer brakes set.
Maybe the dealer dropped it unracking the set , id be on the phone pronto.

If it is indeed twisted it can be straightened and be good as new. And only a couple states have lemon laws that cover class 8 vehicles. A more likely scenario is that something is loose and that allowed your axle to walk. How’s your tire wear?

If the air bags are at a angle a real shop can louse the bolts and put a port/a/power in and push the air ride brackets then tighten the bolt to spec. and it will be like it should have been from factory?

How did you come to the conclusion its twisted? Did it actually go into a frame shop to get measured or just hearsay from someone? If just hearsay, take it with a grain or 2 of salt.

Now when you say airbags are slanted, do you mean they don't sit vertical and slant left/right? Freightliner Airliner suspension? I'd say most likely culprit would be either loose u-bolts, causing the spring to walk to one side, misaligning the bags. Or your torque arm may be shimmed incorrectly, causing the diff housing to sit too far to one side. Although in that scenario you'd see the left side bags slanted the same direction.

Use a measuring tape and measure the distance from frame to ground at various points on both sides.

You wouldn't be the first to post on the forum of a bent frame on a new truck. I forget what brand the other one was though.

I find it hard to believe an almost brand new truck could make it out the door with a bent frame. Then again QC everywhere this day and age is pretty slack.

The one I remember was a supposed bent frame was a Mack and the OP never returned to follow up with what they found out about it.

I remember back probably 15 or so years ago Paccar changed a bunch of frames out on some new logging trucks because they were cracking. Seem to recall they had put small notches in the lower flanges to fit the airlines onto the airbags of the AG200's. 6 notches per rail must've weakened them too much.
